Rekindle the Flame

Alumni- AOC 2023

Living in the modern West presents unique challenges for Muslim youth. Many of them do not have access to proper Islamic sources. Al-Asr strives to remedy this need by facilitating a unique connection between these youth and the main sources of the Islamic tradition, the Quran and Ahlulbayt (as). We are offering discussion sessions specially designed for our Al-Asr Alumni to reconnect with them and serve them where they need us.

This year’s AOC will be split into three groups; New students, SVC Alumni, and married couples.

The Background

Since 1993, One of the main objectives of the Annual Al-Asr Short Vacation Course is to connect our students to the original sources of Islamic revelation and knowledge. Under the guidance of students of the Hawza who are actively connected with their own teachers. Al-Asr SVC participants have a unique opportunity to partake in the sacred tradition of learning from those who have dedicated their lives to understanding and spreading the teachings of the Quran and the Ahlulbayt (as). In accordance with Covid 19 travel restrictions, Al-Asr launched their online educational platform in the year 2020.

Our method of connecting the youth to the teachings of the Ahlulbayt (as) is by holding online interactive (discussion based) classes with the scholars of the Hawza. These interactive classes will offer students the chance to see a more robust presentation of their religious tradition, allowing them to engage with its most profound teachings.

Additionally, making the classes smaller in size allows the scholars to individually tailor answers to questions and provide more personal insights through learning about the participants.
